The project aims to protect the country's plant genetic resources, important for the food and agriculture especially the traditional and rare varieties, which ELGO-DIMITRA conserves ex-situ (outside the natural environment) through the Greek Gene Bank (GGB) and the Variety Conservation Collections (VCC), enhancing the richness of Greek biodiversity and genetic diversity.

The AgriGenRe Project will have a positive impact in terms of strengthening the genetic pool of greek genetic resources and the implementation of sustainable agricultural practices, providing greek farmers with more tools to improve the sustainability of their farms and their resilience to future challenges.
