Dr. Paschalina Chatzopoulou is Director of the Institute of Plant Breeding and Genetic Resources of ELGO-DIMITRA and serves as Research Director, specializing in the Technology of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants and Essential Oil Analysis. She began her professional career in the private sector at Novo Nordisk and subsequently joined the research staff of ELGO-DIMITRA, formerly NAGREF. Her research focuses on the evaluation, conservation, and utilization of plant genetic resources of medicinal and aromatic plants, the development of conventional and innovative green technologies for the extraction of bioactive compounds, and their chemical analysis and characterization. She has extensive experience in the participation and coordination of European, national, and privately funded research projects. Her scientific work includes original publications in international peer-reviewed journals, with a high citation record (h-index >30), numerous presentations at national and international conferences, and the authorship of a scientific book. She actively participates in national and international scientific committees and networks related to medicinal and aromatic plants. She is a member of the Hellenic Food Authority (EFET) Working Group for the Codex Alimentarius “Committee on Spices and Culinary Herbs”, as well as the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Working Group of the European Cooperative Programme for Plant Genetic Resources (ECPGR).
